COURTSHIP TO WHOM? (CHAPTER 2)

PREPARING TO BE A HELP MEET BY DEBI PEARL

COURTSHIP TO WHOM? (CHAPTER 2)

Moral to the story :God often leads us down His path through the counsel of those who are wiser.
A caution :Stubbornness can wreck your life. High-mindedness can leave you a high and dry old maid.

This chapter centers on a lady by name,  Lydia. She was beginning to wonder if she would ever get married at age 23. A day came in which her dad stopped by in her room, to tell her of a man seeking permission to court her.

She was so eager to know who the man was. She was surprised when her dad mentioned a guy who was totally a stranger to her. Of course, she had seen him in different groups prior to that time, but they have never said a word to each other.

It took an hour of persuasion from her dad before she actually agreed to give it a chance by just knowing him.

"Nervous? Are you kidding me? I was a MESS. I mean can you imagine it happening to you? A total stranger wants to marry you... How would you feel exactly?!" Lydia

Hilly Billy came visiting in her home. When they finally met, they got along. She asked Hilly Billy several questions. The day ended and she knew that she could at least stand him.

Lydia called Billy and told him she was going to spend the following day in fasting and prayer, so she doesn't want a distraction from him.

She prayed, she talked with her dad. She reached out to an older woman who had wisely mentored her before on the issue, she carried her mum along too. She weighed all their counsels. Of course, they left her to her own decision even though they shared their mind with her. They were all after her happiness.

"Where no counsel is, the people fall:but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety "Proverbs 11:14

Before she said yes to courtship, she prayed to God to please allow her fall in love with Hilly before they got married. You know he was a stranger to her. They were just getting along.

"One month later, we were engaged. I know it seems fast, but I had full confidence and assurance from God that this was his will for me. I found safety and rest in knowing that my parents liked and admired him. I could immediately honour him because I knew he walked honest and upright before God...And yes, God answered my prayer. I felt totally and completely in love with this wonderful man. Three months later, we married. "Lydia

Lessons learnt:

  • Lydia sought the counsels those who had been on the path before her. She didn't take steps all by herself.  When you are torn in between two opinions, please talk to those who can help you out. Don't be silent over some matters. Open up. Be accountable. Mind you, be mindful of those who you share your life with.

  • Lydia was a woman of prayer. She didn't take any step outside of God. She didn't neglect the place of seeking God because her dad told her about Hilly. She obeyed him, yet she sought the face of God concerning Billy. As singles, we should come to the point of absolute dependence of God.

  • Lydia demonstrated patience, which is  a good virtue we all should possess either singles or married. She waited earnestly for the right man. Please hold on. Do not be in a haste.

  • As you hold on in patience, waiting for the right one, please get something doing. Do not be lazy. Cultivate virtues. Build up yourself. Your man will definitely find you. Finally, do not be stubborn. Be flexible. God can bring your man from anywhere. Do not be rigid.

Thank you.

THE POWER OF IMPURE THOUGHTS BY OLUWABUNMI AREGBESOLA

THE POWER OF IMPURE THOUGHTS BY OLUWABUNMI AREGBESOLA "When a man constantly feeds on impure substances, he is simply feeding his heart with garbage." Impure thoughts are powerful such that they render you incapacitated in the things of the spirit.  They have a way of captivating your heart and making you see no need for pressing deep into the realities of the spirit.  Those articles you have downloaded and digested can't add any substance of value to you, but would rather take away vital substance from you.  Those disgusting discussions you have engaged yourself in will only impair your vision.  Show me a man who has been feeding his heart with garbage, and I will show you a man who has been held captive by this garbage.  You can't continue to sow impure ideas and expect to reap pure meditation.  A man who engages himself in impure thoughts would only be a stumbling block to his growth.  No wonder you have been entan...

FLEE! BY OLUWABUNMI AREGBESOLA

FLEE! BY OLUWABUNMI AREGBESOLA Let's start this way!  What is flee? Flee means to run away; to escape. In other words, run for your life.  You think you still need to pray about it when God says flee?  That prayer of yours is foolishness when the word already says flee.  That lady came into your room in the night half naked and you started speaking in tongues. Will tongues chase her out at the moment? What can we call that act of yours, sir?  That man keeps giving you questionable attention, yet you continue to collect gifts from him instead of you to escape for your life.  When you accidentally bump into porn sites and you feel reluctant to leave, what are you supposed to do? Please flee. Don't feed your eyes with evil.  You don't need an audible voice to tell you that you are in danger zone when youthful lust comes knocking at your door.  Flee is the instruction given in the word of God.  D...

OVERFAMILIARITY CAN DENY US OF MANY BLESSINGS BY TRAILBLAZER AREGBESOLA BUNMI

OVERFAMILIARITY CAN DENY US OF MANY BLESSINGS BY TRAILBLAZER AREGBESOLA BUNMI Each time I am home, my sister would always beg me to plait my hair for me and I will be like you can't make my hair  but have seen her make beautiful hair for other people. What's worrying me? Overfamiliarity. I have been very amazed when people give testimony of how a man of God prays for them and they are healed. The wife of the same  man of God is at home sick but due to the unbelief of the wife and the familiarity, she doesn't believe in her husband's prayers and so she will remain in that state.  So many opportunities some of us have missed because we are proving too familiar with our friends. We think since we are close to them, we are closer to opportunities  and we can also misbehave. Some of us will not even ask questions about how they were able to get to that point. We know they are very much ahead of us, instead of us to humble ourselves, we bring ourselves to t...
