That's when someone who has no slightest understanding of who he is actually and thereby calls himself a filthy rag.  Truth be told, in as much as you are born again, you cannot be compared to a filthy rag. It is just like comparing the living  with the dead. What similarly do they have please?  Without mincing word, you are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. Your righteousness is not like a filthy rag. You have no righteousness of your own. You are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.  Now, talking about how frail we can be, grace is enough for us. The grace that has appeared to us teaches us to deny ungodliness and worldly lust. The grace even teaches us to live soberly, righteously,and godly in this present age. (Titus 2:11-12).
