THE POWER OF THE MIND
BY TRAILBLAZER AREGBESOLA BUNMI
So I saw a story online few days ago whose caption portrayed it was a godly story. I took my time in reading all the episodes. I was just shaking my head in between. The reason been that the story portrayed unforgivingness and all of that. The story didn't end well. I blamed myself for taking my time to read such a thing. Christ wouldn't have taught us to live the way the story ended.
As I wanted to pray in the night, all the story began to replay in my mind. It was like I was seeing a movie. I began to ruminate about the story and I was just saying to myself the story shouldn't have ended that way. At that point, I began to understand the power of thoughts. It's true I read the story in the afternoon, but it has been stored in my subconscious mind.
Have you ever retired to bed in the night before and all what you did during the day, the things you read, where you went, the things you said started replaying in your mind again?
Okay! That's the power of the mind. When you are done with the activities you did during the day, everything starts replaying in your mind and you wonder why you can't combat it. They can't go by shaking you head. They can't go by strong face. They just stick to you like gums.
Your thoughts have ways of making you or messing up your mind. So, the need to be careful of what you digest per time. It is not everything you read, not everything is healthy for your mind.
That is why those dirty talks you engaged yourself in during the day which you were saying they didn't matter start playing in your mind later in the night. You just can't get rid of them in your thoughts. You seem to be enslaved by them yet you don't know how to get rid of them.
So also is the man who finds himself studying the word through out the day, when he's left alone, he begins to meditate on those things he studied during the day. His soul is at rest, he is at peace.
Do not think you would see that pornography just for once and never to see it the second time ? It will definitely replay in your mind even when you didn't send it. It will even bring you the details thereby asking you to go feed your eyes with more.
Summing it all up, friends, I'd say you'll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious-the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Philippians 4:8(MSG)
As you go out today, meditate on things that are lovely, read educating and inspiring articles, pray, delve into trustworthy things. That's how you can have a fulfilled day. That's how you can be living to please God rather than satisfying the lust of the flesh. Make the determination not to engage in unfruitful discussion. Do not feel your mind with garbage. Make up your mind to be obsessed with God and not with fleshly lusts. I receive strength for you in Jesus name.
